POST 5: MY FUTURE JOB
I already have a job, and at this stage of my life, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to change it. I'm happy with being an English teacher (EFL to be specific).
If my life had been different, and I had studied something else... Well, I almost decided to major in Geology, and I wanted to specialize in Paleontology.
If I had studied Geology and Paleontology, I would have become a paleontologist. I am really fascinated by the geological history of the planet Earth; I always enjoyed science in school--especially Biology and Geology. I am fascinated by the fossil history of our planet and how life developed. There are so many different stages of life on Earth that are amazing: the Cambrian Period with really strange sea creatures. The Permian period with various reptiles, pre-mammals, and pre-dinosaurs on land. By the way, most of them were wiped out in a big extinction event at the end of this period--around 90% of life forms on Earth were extinguished. Of coure the dinosaurs of the Triassic, Jurasic and Cretacious are interesting. However, for me, the early mammals are really interesting. I'm talking about the mammals that roamed the continents and seas around 60-20 million years ago. I really like learning about the roots of our modern mammals in these animals--our roots too. Of course, if we go way back, our roots are in some strange sea creatures that we wouldn't recognize.
I think being a paleontologist could be a great mix of indoors and outdoors: indoors when teaching or writing, and outdoors when excavating--that sounds a bit romantic. I suppose it could involve a good amount of traveling being sponsored by universities, museums or foundations. I hope the salary would be good--but I haven't really heard much about that. Either way, it seems like an amazing profession that contributes to our knowledge of our planet, our environment, and ourselves.
Geology also seems interesting to me, especially because I know that I would have to travel to see very interesting places. Maybe in another life I will study that.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher :) last year I had a geology course, it was very fascinating but at the same time very very difficult, it is a great challenge !!
ResponderEliminarHi!! I think Geology is very important and I can hardly imagine how they discovered the past from remains and old rock.
ResponderEliminarHi, I've never thought about studying geology but I think it is very interesting, I love watching science documentaries, I think that studying what surrounds us is very interesting.
ResponderEliminarI have a friend that is currently studying that! i love that she's really passionate about her career and future job.
ResponderEliminarGeology was an option for my studies when I was younger, I find it very fascinating!
ResponderEliminarHello teacher! It was really interesting to read your post because I also thought to study geology at some point in my life, another option I had was archeology :)
ResponderEliminarmy father wanted study paleontology, he love profession in specially why could be in your homeland in the nort of chile
ResponderEliminarWhenever i read or heard the word Paleontologyit reminds me of the character Ross of friends i dont know why hahah, your blog was really interesting i enjoyed reading it
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, I really enjoyed reading this post as I always dreamed of being a paleontologist! mainly because as a child I was in love with dinosaurs because of the movie "Jurassic Park". What a beautiful science paleontology is!
ResponderEliminarit amazing how the science of nature give us this remains of living beings and allows us to realise how the evolution is a incredible process if we compare the ancient species with their descendants. (valentina pizarro)
ResponderEliminarIn geography they teach us a bit of geology and it is quite complicated but so interesting. It is incredible we are too small a part of life on earth.
ResponderEliminarwhen I was a child I wanted to be a paleontologist too :')
ResponderEliminarThose areas never caught my attention, but I think it would be very exciting to do that! it would feel like an important role on the planet
ResponderEliminarDiscovering the life that existed before us and the history of our planet from the same earth, It is a very interesting job!
ResponderEliminarWhen I was a child dinosaurs were the best, I dreamed of being a paleontologist!
ResponderEliminarI never wanted to study that because I'm scared of dinosaurs ahah but at the same time I still find it fascinating
ResponderEliminarpaleontology seems too interesting to me, once i also thought about studying this before entering architecture, it called my attention when i saw movies like jurassic park, when they unearthed dinosaur bones.
ResponderEliminarI think paleontology is great, it's full of interesting things. But it needs more funding for the studies to develop well.
ResponderEliminarPaleontology was too one of the many careers i liked when i was a child. Obviously because of my fascination to dinosaurs. Like Santiago, the Jurassic Park movies had an influence on me and, funny thing, i had a book written by a paleontology named like Alan something and as a kid i believed that book was publish by the character Alan Grant of Jurassic Park I.
ResponderEliminarHi sir! I think that geology and palenthology are great professions to be part of. Personally, when I was thinking on what to study, there was a period when I considered studying archeology, in the sense of having that mixture of working indoors and outdoors, as well as being part of something bigger and even related to the past and history. It's simply fascinating.
ResponderEliminarI never would have thought that you chose that career at some point! but it sounds very interesting
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! I can totally relate with your post to some degree, mainly because when i was in school, there was a time (from 2014-2016) were i was sure that i wanted to be a paleontologist.... And now I am study cinema XD
ResponderEliminarthat sounds really interesting. the history and the physical of what existed and inhabited our own lands many years ago.
ResponderEliminarWow, I never imagined that you were interested in such things.
ResponderEliminarI don't have much knowledge about geography, but I think it must be an interesting area to study
ResponderEliminar
ResponderEliminarwow, I've always been interested in dinosaurs, they seem fascinating to me
I think that Geology it´s a very interesenting topic. I want to read more about it now!
ResponderEliminarGeology sounds amaziing!
ResponderEliminargeology is very interesting, before studying architecture I wanted to study geology but I saw it as a difficult career.
ResponderEliminarHello teacher! I find his blog very interesting. One of the things that have interested me in my life has been paleontology, I find it very useful for the development of humanity and its history.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! I´m a believer that if one does not study something, treasuring it as a hobby is more important for the spirit! 🥰
ResponderEliminarMaria Paz Guzmán: I still wanted to study something related, but archeology, that is if I am not as informed about the issues as you are, but I consider it important to know all the aspects that make us up as human beings from a general aspect.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! it looks a very interesting work! I didn't now that you like that job...
ResponderEliminarit really looks very interesting that job!
ResponderEliminaromg! one of my career choices was geology and archeology and since I was a child I was fascinated by the world of paleontology, I was obsessed with Jurassic Park.
ResponderEliminarPaleontology sound so interesting!!!
ResponderEliminarHi! sounds fun pantheology
ResponderEliminarOne of my best friends, who is currently studying at FACSO (Social Work), also likes Paleontology and science in general. The study of fossils and their analysis is extremely interesting.
ResponderEliminarIt's an amazing dream! Even if you don't think about changing your career, I hope one day you are able to fulfill your paleontologist :3
ResponderEliminarPaleontology remembers me a lot about Jurassic Park, it sounds amazing!
