BLOG POST 8: LEARNING ENGLISH IN OUR TIMES

Imagen
Again, I am going to have to write this post from a different perspective: as an English teacher. Therefore, what I'm writing is a not the same as what you'd write. I'd like to make some observations and give some advice. Communicating in a foreign language can be frustrating and annoying. You don't always understand everything, and you can't say exactly what you mean or how you want to say it. Of course, this is part of the process. We just need to live with this and accept it. It happens to everyone. The best way to deal with this is to accept and get lots of exposure and practice. With time, you will gradually notice improvement. It may seem imperceptible from day to day. You really need to take part, be present, be exposed. Language communication is a lived experience. The language ability will stay in your head if you make memories: live the moment, be present. Learning a language isn't very successful if it's dry, from a distance. It isn't just re...

POST 7: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

I found most of the people I was around to be too agressively ambitious, to be very political in a bad way--a sort of ...

Traveling to the future is very speculative, fantastical, and basically science fiction, but, of course, I think it would be amazing. A lot about the future scares me, but if I could go into the future, I'd like to see a place and time like this: I imagine our world about 300 or 400 years into the future--depending how well we develop our technology. First of all, our world would be much cleaner and more pristine, and in the process of returning to a much more natural state. Most of the world would be a kind of gigantic national park. Perhaps, some people would live here and there leading a simple life without devastating the environment. Where would everyone be? Where would all our industrial and agricultural production be? That would be in a kind of ring orbiting the planet. There would be a ring--maybe 20 kilometers wide orbiting the planet. It would be one solid ring, so it would be thousands of kilometers long. It would orbit the planet about 200 kilometers above the surface....
